So, as always, I get my favorite photos when I spontaneously go to a location. I had plans of doing laundry, and basic household chores tonight until I looked out the window and saw the sun was going down and realized I wanted to at least try and get a shot from this very spot. I threw on some clothes (because lets face it, today was my "lazy Sunday") put all my camera gear in the car (who knows if I'll need that extra set of batteries, it might turn into an adventure) and headed to north Malibu, way past county line. Finally got to my desired location and there was a huge SUV parked on the side of the road (would have been right in the middle of this shot) and it was a guy taking photos with his tripod and a few little kids. The kids were in the middle of the road riding their scooters. It's a canyon road, kids should NOT be riding their scooters in the road. I decided to park anyway, and I apparently scared them away because the dad immediately got his kids in the car and loaded up his camera gear and took off before the sun even went below the horizon. I made sure my car was out of shot and headed up the ridge line, camera on my shoulder. At the end of the shoot I only had about 15 photos, most of which didn't have any car trails in them, so I took two of my favorite shots (one car going down, and the second having the car going up) edited them separately and stacked them together, layering the sky from the first photo, and voila! This is that final image. Thanks for looking!
